Finding 1
Families don't start by searching for a home care agency
The key finding
When a family realizes a parent needs help, they don't start with "home care agency near me." They type "caregiver," "in home care" or "help for elderly parent." They're in research mode, not buying mode, and unless it's an emergency, they can stay there for weeks.
Only about 34,000 monthly searches (33,566) are decision-stage queries for an agency. Most agencies optimize for that last step and are invisible during the research that comes before it.
What this means for your agency
The research phase is your biggest opportunity. Content that helps a family figure out what they need, like "signs your parent needs help at home," reaches them long before they search for a provider. And at the decision stage, directories are taking much of the traffic. Is your agency showing up when families search with local intent?
Finding 2
Home care search peaks in summer, not January
The key finding
The industry talks about a January spike. The data confirms it exists: searches jump 21% after the holidays. But July is the single highest month of the year, 75% above December's low. November is the second peak, and February through May is a consistent slow season across all terms.
| Season | Search trend | What families are doing | What agencies should do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov–Dec | Rising | Family gatherings reveal care needs | Publish content for adult children |
| January | +21% | Making post-holiday decisions | Follow up on Q4 leads |
| Feb–May | Slow | Lower urgency, longer research phase | Build trust content; don't go quiet |
| Jun–Jul | Peak, +75% over December | Summer transitions; school year ends | Maximize ad spend and referral outreach |
| Aug–Oct | Tapering | Settling into fall routines | Follow up on summer leads; prepare for fall |
These figures compare relative search interest in Google Trends (January 2025 to March 2026), not exact search counts.
What this means for your agency
June and July are your biggest search window, and it's easy to coast through summer. Is your summer marketing and referral outreach planned and running by June?
Finding 3
The family searching now is comparison shopping
The key finding
The fastest-growing searches show a more demanding family. They're not just looking for care. They're looking for the best care, at a price they can understand, available when they need it.
What this means for your agency
Families are cost-conscious ("affordable home care," +110%), vetting agencies before they call ("best home care," +100%), and facing more intensive care needs ("24-hour home care," +80%). Does your website give a comparison-shopping family what they need to choose you?
Finding 4
Your caregiver recruiting gap is also a search gap
The key finding
Caregiver recruiting and client acquisition run through the same search engine, and most agencies only optimize for one of them. More than 114,000 monthly searches are about caregiver jobs and training.
| Keyword | Monthly searches | Difficulty | Click-through rate | Opportunity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| caregiver jobs | 16,907 | 37 | 93% | High |
| home health aide jobs | 10,105 | 37 | 93% | High |
| home health aide training | 4,317 | 33 | 60% | High |
| hha jobs near me | 2,362 | 32 | 82% | High |
| home care jobs | 2,160 | 32 | — | Medium |
| free hha training | 744 | 21 | — | High |
Difficulty scores under 40 mean these keywords are winnable without a big SEO budget, and a well-built careers page can rank for several of them at once. Source: Moz Keyword Explorer, March 2026.
What this means for your agency
The 93% click-through rate on "caregiver jobs" and "home health aide jobs" is among the highest in the dataset. People searching these terms are ready to apply, and they click. Agencies whose careers pages rank for them build their caregiver pipeline through search, not just job boards. More caregivers means more clients you can say yes to.
Finding 5
Home care cost questions are everywhere
The key finding
More than 48,000 monthly searches ask about cost, pricing, and Medicare or Medicaid coverage. "In home care cost" searches grew 30% year over year.
What this means for your agency
Agencies that answer cost questions on their website get the inquiry. Agencies that don't lose it to directories and aggregators. Does your site explain your rates, minimum hours and what insurance does and doesn't cover?
Your agency's next steps
What to do with this
| This week | This month | Before summer |
|---|---|---|
| Claim and fully complete your Google Business Profile. "Near me" searches have difficulty scores under 30, making this your fastest win. | Add a pricing or cost FAQ page to your website. | Plan your June–July content and ad spend now. |
| Search your agency's name and the top three care terms in your market. Note what families actually find. | Optimize your careers page for "caregiver jobs [city]" and "home health aide jobs [city]." | Publish one piece of early-stage content, such as "Signs your parent needs home care." |
| Ask three satisfied families for a Google review. | Review your inquiry response standard. A summer surge means more inquiries competing for your team's attention. |

Methodology
How this research was done
RaisedCare analyzed 891 home care keywords representing more than 1.1 million monthly U.S. searches. Search volume, keyword difficulty and click-through rates come from Moz Keyword Explorer (March 2026). Keywords were grouped by intent: general care, caregiver recruiting, cost and pay, agency search, family support and local intent. Category volumes are rounded.
Seasonality and year-over-year growth come from Google Trends US (January 2025 to March 2026), where 100 represents the peak week. Google Trends measures relative search interest, not absolute search counts.
